Pushing Files Over SMB from a Headless Raspberry Pi
A small but load-bearing detail of factory IoT: getting generated files onto the network share reliably, from a device with no screen.
Every edge project eventually hits the same unglamorous question: how do the files actually get to where people can see them?
On Windows-heavy factory networks, the answer is almost always SMB. From a headless Pi that means mounting (or directly writing to) the share, handling credentials safely, and — again — assuming the network will drop at the worst possible time.
It's a small piece of code, but it's load-bearing. If the push fails silently, the whole 'automated reporting' story falls apart. Retries and a local fallback queue make it dependable.
