Privacy.
What this site collects, why, and the choices you have. Written plainly — no dark patterns.
Bibin V R ("I", "me") runs this portfolio at bibinvr.tech. This page explains what happens to any data you share here. The short version: I collect as little as possible and I never sell it.
1. What I collect
The site is a static portfolio. Simply browsing it does not require you to share any personal information, and there are no advertising or analytics cookies tracking you across pages.
The only place you can actively send me information is the contact form. If you choose to use it, I receive:
- Your name
- Your email address
- The message you write
2. How I use it
I use what you send through the contact form for one purpose only: to read your message and reply to you. When your message is sent, the form also emails your address one short, automatic note to say it arrived; that note contains nothing you wrote. I do not add you to a mailing list, profile you, or pass your details to anyone for marketing.
3. Services I rely on
A few trusted providers process limited data on my behalf:
- Cloudflare — hosting, CDN, security, and cookieless visit statistics. Cloudflare may log technical request data (such as IP address and browser type) to serve and protect the site. It also runs the small piece of code that checks your contact-form message and emails it to my inbox. To check your address can receive a reply, it looks up only the part after the @ (for example gmail.com) in Cloudflare's public DNS, and it compares that part with an open list of temporary-email services. To stop repeat sends, it keeps a scrambled (hashed) form of your address and IP address for one minute, then forgets it.
- Resend — sends the automatic note that your message arrived. It receives your email address and that fixed note, and may keep a record of the email it sent under its own terms. It never receives your name or your message.
- GitHub and npm — the live project lists on this site load from their public APIs in your browser, so they see an ordinary request from it.
Each provider runs under its own privacy terms.
4. Cookies & tracking
This site sets no tracking or advertising cookies. A small amount of data may be stored locally in your browser (for example, to remember when you last sent a message, so the form can rate-limit spam). That data never leaves your device.
5. Retention & your rights
The site keeps no copy of your message: it goes straight to my inbox. To stop repeat sends, it remembers a one-way hash of your address for one minute. Messages you send live in my email inbox for as long as they're useful for our conversation. You can ask me at any time to delete a message you've sent, to tell you what I hold, or to correct it. Just email me and I'll take care of it.
6. Children
This site isn't directed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect their information.
7. Changes
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above changes with it. Continued use of the site means you accept the current version.
