From PLC to PDF: Automating Batch Reports at the Edge
Quality teams don't want raw register dumps — they want a clean PDF per batch. Here's the pipeline that gets them there automatically.
Raw data is for machines; reports are for people. The quality team on the floor doesn't want a CSV of register values — they want a clean, signed-off PDF for each production batch, on the shared drive, the moment the batch ends.
So the edge device does the last mile: it groups readings by batch, computes pass/fail summaries, renders a formatted PDF, and pushes it to an SMB share. No human in the loop, no manual export.
The result is that the data layer and the people layer never have to meet directly. The Pi speaks PLC on one side and PDF on the other.
